Methods for Troubleshooting Auxiliary Equipment Failures in CNC Machine Tools

1. Hydraulic System The hydraulic pump for CNC lathes should be a variable-displacement pump. To minimize heating of the hydraulic system, the oil tank equipped with a filter should be regularly cleaned using either manual methods or ultrasonic vibration. Common faults include wear, cracks, and mechanical damage to the pump body; in such cases, it is generally necessary to inspect or replace the affected parts.

2. Atmospheric pressure system

The CNC lathe’s pressure system for tool or workpiece clamping, the safety guard door switch, the chip-removal pressure system for the spindle taper bore, and the water filter should be regularly supplied with water and periodically cleaned to ensure the responsiveness of pneumatic components in moving parts. Malfunctions such as valve spool failure, air leakage, damage to pneumatic components, and operational failures are all caused by inadequate lubrication; therefore, oil mist should be cleaned regularly. In addition, the sealing performance of the pneumatic system should be checked frequently.

3. Lubrication System

The CNC Machine Tool lubrication system includes lubrication for the machine tool's guideways, transmission gears, ball screws, spindle box, and more. The filters in the lubrication pump need to be cleaned and replaced regularly—once a year.

4. Cooling System

The CNC lathe’s cooling system affects the cooling of both the tool and the workpiece, as well as chip removal. The coolant nozzles should be cleaned regularly.

5. Chip-removal device

The chip-removal device for a CNC Machine Tool is an independent accessory function that primarily ensures the smooth operation of automatic cutting and reduces heat generation in the CNC Machine Tool. Therefore, the chip-removal device should be able to remove chips automatically and promptly, and its installation location should be as close as possible to the cutting area of the tool.
